Arriving at the embassy

Finding the Embassy

Due to our waiting room size and the time required to screen visitors, other accompanying persons cannot be admitted to the waiting room. Drivers, friends, extra relatives must wait outside or return to meet the applicant after the interview has been completed. We do NOT advise bringing small children to visa interviews.

Special Needs

Elderly and disabled applicants may bring ONE person to assist; please call the Embassy in advance so we may advise the front gate.

Children age 14-18: Parents may accompany their children.

Translators: There is no need for you to bring a translator as our staff speaks a variety of Chinese and Indian dialects as well as Bahasa.

Security Screening

All visitors must be screened prior to entering the Embassy and are subject to inspection via walk-through metal detector and a hand-held metal detector. All personal items will undergo full inspection via x-ray and other detection equipment.

Any visitor refusing to submit to security screening will not be able to enter the Embassy.

Prohibited items:

Food and beverages;
Backpacks, bags, luggage, large purses, etc.; and
Weapons or tools of any kind.

Security at the Consular Section
All official facilities are mandated to use access control procedures for all visitors and their handbags and packages. No luggage, electronic or photographic equipment is permitted in our waiting room or on other Embassy premises.

Cell phones, cameras, keys and remotes will be held at the front gate and you will be given a receipt so these items can be returned upon your departure from the Embassy.

Light Bulb Speed up security screening by not bringing any of these prohibited items.
Light Bulb Fingerprinting: Ensure your Index fingers do not have any cuts or abrasions before you leave for your interview. If there are any cuts or abrasions, save a trip to the Embassy by rescheduling your interview.
