Nearly 60 secondary school students and teachers attended an all-day Vacation English Camp at the Lincoln Corner in the
Kelantan State Library in Kota Bharu on November 25. The program's goal was to help students practice English-language
reading, listening and speaking skills. The students actively participated in a variety of programs led by
representatives from the American Embassy, ranging from American Idioms, to Sports in the U.S., to the recent U.S.
Elections and President-elect Barack Obama. Students learned about American culture and the importance of teamwork by
collaborating on team logos and cheers and by participating in a team information treasure hunt in the Lincoln Corner.
At the end of the program, students noted that they enjoyed "meeting new friends and becoming more comfortable
speaking English." The students' favorite session was American Idioms, because it "helped [them] learn new vocabulary,"
and "learn more about the history and culture of America."
