Ambassador hosts Iftar for International Visitor Leadership Program Alumni
On September 2, the Ambassador hosted an Iftar dinner at his residence in honor of alumni of the International Visitor
Leadership Program (IVLP). A total of 45 Malaysian and American guests attended the dinner. Guests included academicians, NGO
representatives, artists, religious leaders and political party representatives, all of whom are members of the Malaysian American
Friendship Alumni Association (MAFAA). Imam Hamidon, an alumnus of the IVLP himself, recited the do'a (prayer) before breaking the
fast. The Ambassador offered a few words in memory of Mr. T. Kuhan, President of MAFAA, who had passed away just a day before the
reception. During the dinner, guests discussed their experiences as participants in International Visitor programs to the U.S.,
and were pleased to learn that opportunities for exchanges with the United States are expanding, instead of shrinking, as many had
believed.
