Ambassador Keith greets Editor In Chief of Nanyang Siang Pau, Mr. Chong Tien Siong along with senior staff of the paper at the newspaper's offices in Petaling Jaya.

On December 2, 2008 Ambassador Keith paid a visit to Nanyang Siang Pau Newspaper, one of Malaysia's oldest Chinese-language newspapers. He met with Editor in Chief Mr. Chong Tien Siong and senior staff for a broad-ranging, off-the-record discussion, and then visited Nanyang's "Hall of History" where photographs and memorabilia chronicle the 85-year history of the paper, founded by philanthropist-entrepreneur Tan Kah Kee in Singapore in 1923, and published in Malaysia since the 1970s.

Later, the Ambassador was interviewed by a senior reporter, with questions ranging from the future of the US-Malaysia bilateral relationship in a new U.S. administration, to issues of economics, trade, and the global economic crisis. Nanyang Press is part of a global Chinese language media platform that includes Ming Pao, and Sin Chew Media.
